Dr. Nicholas Nolan earned a Bachelor of Science degree from La Salle University in Philadelphia, PA. He then continued his education at Temple University for graduate school where he earned a Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree. His final two internships were with BREAKTHRU where he received rave results with his evidence based care. Nicholas joined BREAKTHRU’s team to pursue his passion for Sports, Orthopedics, and Manual Physical Therapy.
Nicholas has had extensive clinical experiences working with the orthopaedic population in various settings including trauma, ICU, post-operative, and outpatient sports rehabilitation. He has also been trained in work-hardening programs, tailoring treatment to meet the demands of one’s duties at work. He has a passion for and is skilled in spinal manipulation/mobilization techniques as well as various manual therapy interventions. He is a very hands-on therapist, giving each patient the attention they deserve. His hands-on skills include, but are not limited to, joint mobilization, muscle energy techniques, and proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation (PNF). Dr. Nolan combines these manual treatments with specific exercise training depending on the needs of the individual.
Nicholas has performed extensive research in orthopaedic physical therapy including: knee osteoarthritis and manual therapy treatment techniques, manual therapy interventions and outcomes in patients with shoulder impingement, and core stabilization training. Nicholas is an advocate for utilizing evidence-based research to guide his clinical practice toward quality patient-centered care. He is working toward becoming an Orthopaedic Clinical Specialist (OCS). Nicholas is a strong believer in patient empowerment and education to help prevent injuries before they occur again.
Nicholas has a philosophy that fits well with BREAKTHRU’s holistic approach, empowering patients to achieve their goals and live a healthy, active lifestyle. Both Nicholas and BREAKTHRU believe in a continuum of care, beginning with physical therapy to treat impairments progressing to general fitness to maintain gains. Nicholas believes providing adequate time for his patient’s is essential for individuals to reach their goals. He also maintains strong communication between other health care providers involved in a case. This formula creates excellent continuity of care, customer service, and successful outcomes.
