Knee replacement patients who participate in rehabilitation programs under the supervision of a trained physical therapist demonstrate the best long-term outcomes after surgery.

knee

Patients who work with a physical therapist on strengthening leg muscles perform at higher levels when compared to those not under supervised care.

Exercise prior to your knee replacement surgery help strengthen your knee, improve flexibility, and help you recover faster.

It’s a Step by Step Journey

Not long after you wake up from surgery, you will be walking your way back to good health. Research has proven that the sooner you get back on your feet, the quicker the healing process will be.

Initial treatment sessions will focus on increasing your range of motion to improve the mechanics of your new joint. With normal, pain-free motion, functional activities such as ambulation, transfers, and other functional mobility tasks, can be completed safely and efficiently.

As your mechanics begin to improve and your range of motion is restored, the focus is shifted towards the improvement of strength in the musculature surrounding the knee. As strength grows your new joint will become increasingly stable, ensuring safety with functional use.
