Matthew Lajoie, PT, DPT

Doctor of Physical Therapy
Bio
Matthew started competing in competitive sports at an early age. As a result, he had his share of injuries and ailments. It was during this time when he was first exposed to the Physical Therapy profession and Breakthrough Physical Therapy. These experiences not only introduced him to the profession but also helped him appreciate the profound impact that skilled, compassionate care can have on recovery.
His appreciation for physical therapy increased during his time as a member of the Gettysburg College football team. Matt’s Senior year, he suffered a major setback, when he broke his fibula in his left leg. This caused him to miss most of his senior season. While this injury was physically and emotionally challenging, it deepened his fascination with the rehabilitative process and sparked a strong interest in the mental health aspect of recovery. Matt found it incredibly rewarding to connect with others going through similar challenges and helping them get back to doing what they love. That sense of purpose and fulfillment has continued to drive his commitment to the patients he serves today.
Matthew’s clinical interests include orthopedic rehabilitation, sports injury prevention and recovery, manual therapy techniques to enhance mobility and reduce pain, balance and proprioceptive training, and the application of biomechanics to optimize functional movement.
Prior to entering graduate school, Matthew had the opportunity to shadow and complete an internship with Breakthru Physical Therapy at multiple locations, gaining valuable early exposure to outpatient care. During his time in the Doctor of Physical Therapy program at Drexel University, he completed clinical rotations in two outpatient orthopedic clinics as well as one rotation in home-based care, further expanding his clinical experience across diverse patient populations and settings.
