Bio

Matt Kaiser, DPT, is a 2015 graduate of Arcadia University in Glenside, PA, and Facility Director for Breakthru-Turnersville. Prior to PT school, Matt attended Rowan University in Glassboro, NJ, where he completed his undergraduate studies, obtaining his Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences.

During his time at Arcadia, Matt not only obtained his doctoral degree in Physical Therapy but was also was awarded a Teaching Assistant position, tutoring first year students in performing manual skills.

In addition to working as facility director for Breakthru in Turnersville, Matt previously worked for over three years as assistant director at an outpatient facility that specialized in treating patients with Multiple Sclerosis and other progressive neurological diseases.

Matt also has clinical experience working in a Skilled Nursing facility in which he provided care in a variety of in home and sub-acute settings.

Matt’s true passion lies in providing excellent care to his patients and working together with them to achieve and progress toward their goals. Matt regularly treats a variety of conditions, but specializes in orthopedic rehabilitation, sports injuries and worker’s compensation cases.

Matt focuses his treatment on each individual to correct dysfunctional movement patterns and promote quality movement to decrease pain and improve functionality. He uses manual treatments as well as patient education and therapeutic exercise to accomplish patient centered goals.

Matt has completed continuing education courses in Clinical geriatric orthopedics, Functional Evaluation and Treatment of the foot, Management of Patellofemoral Pain Syndrome, Dynamic Balance Training with Balance-Based Torso-Weighting, and other subjects focused on delivering evidence-based practice for optimal outcomes. He continues to focus on building his education on orthopedics and clinical management of chronic conditions.

Dr. DJ, Wendy and the gang LOVE keeping my 6.5 month old baby entertained and even put her to sleep while I’m doing my PT! That’s some amazing service right there! Not to mention how chill and low key everything is. I have had the absolute pleasure of doing physical therapy with Dr. Shannon to help rehabilitate my foot and ankle from a serious injury. Not only is she knowledgeable and empathetic, she brings positivity and fun to each session. No one wants to be in physical therapy but Shannon makes it enjoyable and fun. Tim and the Breakthru Physical Therapy team at Mt Laurel, helped me return to sport after my injury. In less than one year following my achilles tendon rupture, I was able to complete a half-Ironman distance triathlon! Tim is an expert in sports rehab and uses the latest rehab protocols to get athletes and clients back to sport and life with minimal discomfort. I torn my bicep tendon & waited 3 months before the repair. The bicep had significant muscle atrophy. Breakthru is an outstanding PT facility, Tim S. and his team used advanced & extensive technologies to shorten recovery from the torn bicep & frightening muscle atrophy. They put together a comprehensive rehab program involving bands, stretch, weights, recum bikes, soft tissue & scar message and blood flow restriction (BFR) therapy. In 5 weeks I progressed from being extremely weak with a bicep. My bicep was 1.5 inches smaller since the injury with limited range of motion. Five weeks later my arm has full function and I can easily curling 25lb dumbells. BFR under the direction of a PT really allowed muscle growth with much lighter weight. I joined a large support group with similar injuries and it appears no one has recovered as quickly as me. Tim's program & the Breakthru facility with certified BFR & deep scar tissue therapies accelerated my recovery by 6 months.

I came to Breakthru after I threw my back out. Shannon has been phenomenal in getting me back to myself. She diagnosed where the pain was coming from, explained everything in terms of how I could understand. It's been a few weeks and I have been pain free and moving much better. Getting an appointment was easy and they were always able to work with my schedule. In addition, if I didn't do my at home exercises, I was never made to feel like I did something wrong or felt guilty for not doing them. I would highly recommend them for PT needs!

I was sent to Breakthru PT through workman's comp after spine surgery. At first I was very skeptical about going because of the experience I had at a different place I was sent to. This place is the best. The complete opposite of the other place I was sent right after my injury. Everyone here is very friendly. From the front desk to all the therapists. Michelle is the best! After surviving 24 years of Law Enforcement without a significant injury, I suffered a complete patella tendon tear at work just 6 months away from retirement. I laid in the hospital devastated with the thought of not walking out of the police station in the same manner that I walked in as a rookie. Only after surgery, unable to put any weight on my leg, did I realize what an uphill battle I had ahead of me. I had never needed physical therapy before and did not know what to expect, but I did know that I wanted to recover faster than the surgeon predicted. When I met Rebecca for the first time and told her of my hope, she completely supported me. She would proceed to push me when I needed pushed, motivate me on my bad days and pull me back in when I tried to do too much. As I learned to walk again, she gave me confidence despite my fear of re-agitating the injury. Now, as I am jogging and preparing to be cleared by the surgeon to return to full duty, I am in awe of what she accomplished. Beyond her technical skills as a physical therapist, it was her genuine empathy and compassion that truly set her apart. Rebecca’s kindness, patience, and willingness to listen attentively to my concerns made me feel valued and supported throughout every step of the process. She created a warm and welcoming environment within the clinic and made each session something I looked forward to, rather than something I dreaded. I cannot thank Rebecca enough for taking me from a place of despair and immobility to a place of mental and physical recovery.

I started Schroth therapy last November after years of being self-conscious about my scoliosis. After my consultation with Kevin I was immediately put at ease by his expertise and easy going personality. You can tell he really loves what he does and he knows his stuff! I took the 35 min drive a couple times a week from Pennsauken to Medford-at times tired from work. He always showed me grace when I was a few minutes late. His ability to connect with his patients is something you don't find in a lot healthcare practitioners, and I sincerely appreciated it. I started at Breakthru Voorhees after Spinal surgery. While the surgery was completely successful, my left league had atrophied to the point I could not walk without a cane.I was fortunate enough to get Michelle as my trainer. Meghan is amazing. I was nervous about going to PT, but she made me feel extremely comfortable and is very down to earth and knowledgeable. She was able to help me find a routine that helps manage my chronic pain, and even printed it out for me so I could continue at home easily. She was able to adjust many things based on where I had pain so one thing didn’t aggravate another. She never judged me or shamed me for my tardiness (I’m just ashamed of myself lol). She made me feel like a friend was helping me but was also extremely professional. If I had a random pain unrelated to my chronic issue she was able to help me with that also. We were referred to Breakthru after our 13 year old daughter had a major knee surgery. She was fairly nervous about the entire process but that changed with the first visit. Her therapist, Mark, was quick to put her mind at ease and while getting her right into a routine she was able to do and actually seemed excited about. After just a couple weeks, she was showing off how much more she could bend her knee and doing many of the exercises on her own.The facility is very clean and with a good amount of equipment to tap into. They’ve always been on time, have welcomed us to start early if we arrive before our scheduled time, and very flexible with day and evening hours. Would definitely recommend!

The entire team is extremely knowledgeable, courteous and dedicated to the well being of all their patients. Specifically, Dr. Shannon Urban and her diagnostic skills, application of the proper stretching and exercise routine to combat my specific ailments and in general oversee and construct a top notch recovery experience tailored to my needs. Breakthru was recommended to me from a coworker and I am so glad I also chose to come here. I have been working with Shannon and she is great at what she does! Very professional yet personable and truly listens to what my needs and concerns are. She does her best to adjust to that! The facility is also a great location, clean and calming and the front desk is very friendly!

I have a great experience @ Breakthru. Dr. Shannon Urban has been my PT - she has been able to target shifting areas of concern to help immensely with pain and mobility/flexibility. Professional and personable. Staff in general are friendly and courteous. Never have problem with scheduling.

Dr. Fahringer was great. I’m not the easiest patient to treat because I’m impatient and wanted to return to high intensity exercise as quickly as possible. Dr. Fahringer promised me if I followed his programming, I would be back to working out soon, but I had to be patient. I’m now back running and working out with little to no pain and feeling great! Appointments were easy to schedule and the office manager was very accommodating.

Breakthrough physical therapy has been a lifesaver for me after my injury. I play pickleball regularly, but I tore my calf muscles several times. Nick, my therapist, has been amazing in guiding me through the recovery process. He is very knowledgeable, caring, and professional. Thanks to him, I was able to return to the court as soon as possible. I highly recommend Breakthrough physical therapy to anyone who needs help with their physical health.
