Pamela Bigelow MPT
Bio
Pamela Bigelow, MPT, is a 2001 graduate of the University of St. Augustine, with a BS degree in physical therapy from UMDNJ in Newark, NJ, in 1982 and, prior to PT school, graduated with a BA degree in Sociology and minor in Biology from Kean College in 1980.
Pam developed her passion for Physical Therapy at the age of 12, working with Cerebral Palsy patients and then volunteering in a progressive Outpatient PT center during High School.
Following her degree training, Pam’s initial professional concentration was rehabilitation and working with patients with: Cerebral Vascular Accidents (CVA); Multiple Sclerosis (MS); Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI); and Total Joint Replacements.
She then worked as an Outpatient Senior Physical Therapist and then-Supervisor, concentrating in: Post-Surgical Patients; Work-related injuries; and Sports injuries and screening.
Ms. Bigelow was an Adjunct Professor at Stockton College and an Assistant Professor for seventeen years at Atlantic Community College teaching: Anatomy & Physiology I and II; Kinesiology; PT Treatment Procedures; and Medical Terminology.
Pam completed her MPT degree in 2001 from the University of St. Augustine, specializing in orthopedic patient conditions and received her Manual Therapy Certification (MTC).
She also has received Certification in Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM) with Hawk grips (Graston-type). Her manual specialization coursework has concentrated on: Cervical and Spinal derangement (Paris and McKenzie); Spinal (Paris, Irwin, Maitland) and extremity mobilization (Paris and Patla); Myofascial Release (MFR) techniques (Barnes, Grodin); Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ) dysfunction (Rocabado); and, Acupressure and TENS therapy (Yao).
Pamela has been an integral part of our Breakthru team for over 7 years and has previously been our lead therapist for our Aquatic Therapy Program. Her vast knowledge and experiences over her 38 years of professional practice allow her to look at each patient independently and set up an individual and comprehensive treatment care program. Her love of her career and profession is seen with her personalized, one-on-one approach for every patient.
