Dr. Shannon Urban has been a physical therapist for over 6 years with vast clinical experience. Dr. Shannon has a passion for the treatment of post-operative orthopedic conditions, as well as the treatment and prevention of postural related spinal conditions. She also has experience with a wide range of neurological conditions such as Multiple Sclerosis and Parkinson’s Disease. She enjoys empowering people of all ages to adopt and maintain a healthy lifestyle and takes pride in helping each person reach their own unique goals.

Dr. Shannon enjoys creating a positive, and professional environment for all people that allows them to focus on their unique needs, but also allows them to enjoy improving their lives and their health through targeted therapeutic interventions. Dr. Shannon believes that it is just as important to enjoy the process as it is to understand the reasoning behind it.

My surgeon recommended Breakthru Physical Therapy after repairing my severely damaged left shoulder. After having a total shoulder / rotor cuff repair back in July I didn’t think I’d ever get back to normal. I was in bad shape. After discussing with my Dr the best path forward and visiting several Physical Therapy centers I decided on Breakthrough in Marlton. Kennedy was my physical therapist. At first it was a slow start. Dr. DJ, Wendy and the gang LOVE keeping my 6.5 month old baby entertained and even put her to sleep while I’m doing my PT! That’s some amazing service right there! Tim and the Breakthru Physical Therapy team at Mt Laurel, helped me return to sport after my injury. In less than one year following my achilles tendon rupture, I was able to complete a half-Ironman distance triathlon! I torn my bicep tendon & waited 3 months before the repair. The bicep had significant muscle atrophy. Breakthru is an outstanding PT facility, Tim S. and his team used advanced & extensive technologies to shorten recovery from the torn bicep & frightening muscle atrophy. They put together a comprehensive rehab program involving bands, stretch, weights, recum bikes, soft tissue & scar message and blood flow restriction (BFR) therapy. In 5 weeks I progressed from being extremely weak with a bicep. My bicep was 1.5 inches smaller since the injury with limited range of motion. Five weeks later my arm has full function and I can easily curling 25lb dumbells. BFR under the direction of a PT really allowed muscle growth with much lighter weight. I joined a large support group with similar injuries and it appears no one has recovered as quickly as me. Tim's program & the Breakthru facility with certified BFR & deep scar tissue therapies accelerated my recovery by 6 months.

Today was my last day of PT. It’s been two months of physical therapy and I’m so happy with the results. Matt & Russ have given me the upmost attention and challenge me at times to achieve my goals. They are knowledgeable, professional and personable. I highly recommend this facility for physical therapy.

After surviving 24 years of Law Enforcement without a significant injury, I suffered a complete patella tendon tear at work just 6 months away from retirement. I laid in the hospital devastated with the thought of not walking out of the police station in the same manner that I walked in as a rookie. Only after surgery, unable to put any weight on my leg, did I realize what an uphill battle I had ahead of me. I had never needed physical therapy before and did not know what to expect, but I did know that I wanted to recover faster than the surgeon predicted. When I met Rebecca for the first time and told her of my hope, she completely supported me. She would proceed to push me when I needed pushed, motivate me on my bad days and pull me back in when I tried to do too much. As I learned to walk again, she gave me confidence despite my fear of re-agitating the injury. Now, as I am jogging and preparing to be cleared by the surgeon to return to full duty, I am in awe of what she accomplished. Beyond her technical skills as a physical therapist, it was her genuine empathy and compassion that truly set her apart. Rebecca’s kindness, patience, and willingness to listen attentively to my concerns made me feel valued and supported throughout every step of the process. She created a warm and welcoming environment within the clinic and made each session something I looked forward to, rather than something I dreaded. I cannot thank Rebecca enough for taking me from a place of despair and immobility to a place of mental and physical recovery.

Update: 3 weeks later, they're still kicking my butt in all the good ways. Gotten to know both Matt and Russ better. They're both professional, helpful, kind and a joy to talk with. This is my last day after several months of therapy with Pam Bigelow. I found this place to be professional and extremely beneficial to me. Pam explains the exercises and watches to make sure I’m doing them correctly. She also shows an interest in us, we’re not just a number. I would recommend her, Zach to anyone considering coming to 3 Nelson Drive

Kevin started a course of therapy that very quickly started to improve the problem with my knee. The range of motion gradually increased while my pain decreased. He was very thorough and always answered all my questions. Thank you so much!Georgann
